In late July the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the decision to create a medical school at BYU. This morning President C. Shane Reese provided an update stating that the future school will provide a high-quality, spiritually based program that reinforces the mission of BYU and of the Church and will offer a doctor of medicine degree (MD). In addition, the new medical school building will be located on BYU’s campus here in Provo, while clinical training will happen at multiple off-site hospital locations. Read more details. |

Rasband at BYU’s annual university conference in August. The university’s main advantage is prophetic guidance. “As the senior apostle, President Russell M. Nelson represents the Savior as the head of Christ’s church on the earth. Access to prophetic guidance is at the very design of this university,” Elder Rasband said.
