On Dec. 1 thousands of students, alumni, and others in the BYU community gathered to celebrate the start of Christmas and BYU’s 150th. The “party with a purpose” included a live nativity, BYU performing groups, a message from President Reese, and a Christmas tree lighting. Light the World Giving Machine kiosks made their debut on campus and will be available at the Wilkinson Student Center and Marriott Center until Dec. 23. Inspired by a world-class BYU Museum of Art exhibition of works by Rossetti, Sargent, and other artists, BYU students were asked to design runway looks that embody The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce. Students recently modeled the resulting fashion and makeup designs in a MOA runway show. The MOA exhibit will be on display until Jan. 3, 2026. Read more or watch video highlights. |

A new anthem, “Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve,” is now available to BYU 150 participants who reach the 75-hour service benchmark. The piece was composed by BYU music professor Nathan Hofheins (right) and orchestra director Nathan Haines (left). “I wanted a song that would embody the spirit of BYU and be a way of introducing BYU to the world,” Haines says. Ahead of the Big 12 championship game, Taggart Barron, chair of the Dallas–Fort Worth BYU Alumni Chapter, is spearheading what may be the largest BYU tailgate event ever—and it’s free, thanks to donors. Listen in to this Y’s Guys podcast as Taggart talks through the whirlwind scramble to find a venue big enough for thousands of Cougar fans traveling into Arlington for the weekend. Taggart also details the chapter’s ambitious “Power Four” service project, which includes a food drive, Giving Machines supporting local charities, and 4,300 gallons of BYU Creamery milk distributed to Catholic Charities and DFW food banks. The new Creamery on Ninth has opened its doors. The original building—now closed—was visited annually by more than 1.3 million guests. The new building features a 71-percent increase in size, allowing for more grocery items and a larger dining area. A covered patio will have heaters in the winter and misters in the summer. Customers can use the new walk-up window to order outside. A formal grand opening celebration will take place in January. Get more details. |
